Thermal Hydraulics (TH) Analysis Corporate Resources
The thermal hydraulic (TH) analysis resources of Applied Analysis Corp. are lead by two senior engineers, Messrs. Juan M. Cajigas and Ronald E. Anderson.
Mr. Juan M. Cajigas holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering and has over forty years experience in the nuclear industry. His technical background includes over thirty years experience in the performance of thermal-hydraulic analysis and mechanical/nuclear design tasks for BWRs and PWRs. Specifically, Mr. Cajigas has experience in the computer simulation of primary containment and/or sub-compartments pressure and temperature (P/T) response to postulated accidents/incidents such as LOCA, Main Steam Line Break (MSLB), Feedwater Line Break (FWLB), other miscellaneous High Energy Line Breaks (HELB) outside primary containment, Station Blackout (SBO), and many others. In the containment/ subcompartment P/T analysis area, Mr. Cajigas is experienced with the GOTHIC, CONTEMPT, COMPARE, TSAP, and COTTAP programs. Mr. Cajigas has performed and/or reviewed numerous subcompartment and containment P/T analyses for PWR’s and BWR’s. Recently, Mr. Cajigas has been responsible for the development and/or design review of GOTHIC program models for AREVA, TVA, Entergy, GE Nuclear, Progress Energy, and Xcel Energy. Mr. Cajigas has been directly responsible for the preparation of software quality assurance (SQA) documents for over twelve nuclear safety related thermal-hydraulic codes including the Entergy/RBS Software Quality Assurance Plan for the GOTHIC code.
Mr. Ronald E. Anderson holds a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering and has over forty years experience in the design and analysis of nuclear power plant systems and components. Mr. Anderson has extensive experience in the thermal hydraulic analysis of nuclear primary containments and sub-compartments for BWRs and PWRs. His code experience for compartment P/T analysis includes GOTHIC, CONTEMPT, COMPARE, TSAP, and COTTAP. Mr. Anderson has performed and/or reviewed numerous subcompartment and containment P/T analyses for PWR’s and BWR’s. Recently, Mr. Anderson has been responsible for the development and/or design review of GOTHIC models for AREVA, TVA, Entergy, GE Nuclear, Progress Energy, and Xcel Energy. Mr. Anderson’s expertise and experience with subcompartment/containment analysis, the GOTHIC program, and safety related engineering calculations is instrumental in the development, analysis, and validation of subcompartment/containment GOTHIC models that are correct, realistic, and technically defendable. This TH team offers our clients a unique combination of experience and expertise in PWR/BWR containment and subcompartment P/T analysis, GOTHIC code model preparation and analyses, preparation and design review of plant specific safety related calculations, and nuclear software quality assurance. The team is not only experienced in thermal hydraulics analysis and nuclear systems design but is also knowledgeable in nuclear licensing and plant operation issues relevant to these tasks.
